CAO serves patients in Virginia, West Virginia, Washington D.C., and Maryland.
Our spine service features an innovative, multidisciplinary approach to the care of patients with disorders affecting the lumbar, thoracic and cervical spine. We effectively treat a wide range of conditions including degenerative spine disease, sponylolithsthesis, scoliosis, back strain, sciatica, neck pain and radiculopathy, fragility and spine fractures. Our team focuses on non-surgical interventions first, using rehabilitation medicine and physical therapy, medical management, injection therapy and pain management. We coordinate contemporary physical therapy techniques including traction, plyometrics and core strengthening. Appropriate imaging including MRI is used to confirm diagnosis in cases where improvement is not realized with conservative care.
When surgical intervention is necessary, our physicians use state of the art techniques, including minimally invasive spine surgery and advanced reconstructive methods. Spine surgery is typically performed at Holy Cross Hospital where our surgeons oversee and chair the Joint and Spine Orthopaedic Institute at HCH. This integrated team approach leads to seamless coordination of care from diagnosis through treatment and rehabilitation. The ultimate goal is to help each patient restore function and to improve their quality of life.
